Cavallino Classic 2018
This was my first time attending the Cavallino Classic, and I found out it is the mecca of Ferraris. It was held at the exquisite Breakers Hotel in West Palm Beach. Ferraris, a breed known for their beautiful curves and raw horsepower, were in your line of sight wherever you gazed at this fantastic event.
After years of photographing the Ferrari 250 GTO, I was excited to finally see one racing at Palm Beach International Raceway. There were two GTOs and two 512 BB LM cars going head-to-head. What a spectacle to see! Some of the spectators also had amazing cars, like one gentleman who had a Ford RS200.
They had a series of Vignale-bodied Ferraris and even a row of Ferrari F40s and 288 GTOs. The Cavallino Classic is known for showcasing some of the most prized Ferraris in existence, and this year was no exception.
While I was there, I ran into a motorsports photographer named Rob Woodham, one of the best in the business. We had a conversation about our work and upcoming races. It's always a highlight for me to meet up with other photographers who share the same passion. I also connected with Michael DiPleco, Peter Singhoff, and Dom Miliano, all of whom are mostly Nikon guys like myself.
